Busy
Places
All
of Leaside is busy, but not as busy as these places.
The
Leaside Memorial Gardens opened its doors in
1951 at the intersection of Millwood and Laird Drive.
This community center has been a model for others
and it still sticks to its goal of maintaining a clean
and safe recreational facility for the community.
These facilities are home to the Leaside Hockey
Association, the Leaside Skating Club, the Leaside
Girls Hockey Association and many other groups. The
important feature of the Leaside Memorial Gardens
is the Lea Room. This is a beautiful banquet hall
laced with maple wood flooring. For years, weddings,
receptions, dances, rock shows, sport card shows,
sport celebities autograph sessions, antique furniture,
rug sales, and auctions have occupied this room.
| Another
busy place is the Leaside Library. This
library, located at the North end of Trace Manes
Park, opened its doors on March 8, 1950. Today
the building is a perfect place for research and
has been equipped with the latest internet access
for access to all other branches of the Toronto
Public library system.
